βthingsβ is developing modular white goods to help limit the e-waste problem and encourage the right-to-repair movement within the UK. The first product, a toaster, was designed to be repairable.
We have achieved this by breaking down components into simple βplug and playβ modules that can be replaced easily by the user. Additional aesthetic changes can be made to the outer enclosure if the user wants an upgrade without switching out the whole product.

We produced this short video for the judging panel explaining what is spacial about the toaster and the plans are moving forward, we thought you would like to also see it!
